The Knole Collection 1660-1850
The Knole range is based upon the design of a pendant lamp that is part of the original décor at Knole Park, that fine example of the English seventeenth century country house, which is situated close to Sevenoaks in Kent. The Knole chandelier which is dated circa 1670 represented a complete break from the earlier 'baluster and ball' fashion incorporating, as it does, the urn shaped baluster decorated with cherubs, a pineapple finial and a graceful combination of angles and curves in the arms.
The Knole range is the ideal choice for the classic 'English' country house and happily compliments the grand mansion as well as the more humble farm or town house where its soft gleam of polished silver, gilt or brass provides a beautiful foil for the dark mellow tones of good 'country' furniture.
