custom light fitting
A brief History of Dernier & Hamlyn.
From 1924

By 1924 the shop and factory in Newman Street was the finest lampshade and light-fitting showroom in London.

In 1926 the company launched the "Litalux" bed lamp. This was an innovative design that provided even, glare free illumination and required no fixings. It was especially suitable as a reading lamp, which at the time was a far more popular past time than the " Wireless".

With the onset of the Second World War production at Newman Street and Hanway Street quickly turned to 'war work'.
