Design The design department at Dernier & Hamlyn has one of the largest historical lighting archives available. Our highly talented designers have a wealth of knowledge to draw upon as well as thousands of existing designs.
The client can submit to us a concept drawing, illustration, photograph or just a basic sketch on the back of an envelope. Our designers can then take the concept and through a series of further drawings, develop an agreed design complete with a full working drawing. Alternatively our designers along with our consultants can be given a 'Brief'. |

This may include drawings, sketches, etchings or photos of the area where the proposed fitting is required. Depending on the brief, our designers may need to research the origins of the building to see if a particular style is required. It may be that the area has a Gothic feel or style, which may inspire us to suggest a Pugin chandelier. Alternatively it could be a classic Georgian interior that would be complemented by our Georgian range.
It may be that the client wants a uniquely designed fitting for their particular interior. In this case we would meet on site with the client and survey the area concerned and take note of the clients' needs and preferences. This process can give the client much satisfaction as they have played a major role in developing their own fitting. Dernier & Hamlyn also specialise in the production of fittings designed by quality interior designers such as David Collins, John Minshaw, Patrice Butler, Richmond International, KCA and many others. These designers create exclusive designs for their own projects and they use Dernier & Hamlyn to produce high quality finished light fittings for their clients. Examples of Designer lighting can be viewed at our Croydon factory. |
